Why private yoga?

Private yoga sessions offer several benefits, and while group classes have their own set of advantages, individual sessions cater to a unique set of needs.

A general yoga class offers movement and breathing techniques which may lead numerous life benefits, from improved flexibility and strength to enhanced mental clarity and inner peace.

However, here are some reasons why someone might opt to explore the benefits with a private yoga class over a group class:

Personalised Attention:

With a private yoga instructor, the focus is solely on the individual. This allows for tailored yoga practice based on one’s own body type, yoga experience, health conditions, and personal goals.

Customised Sequences:

The instructor can design sequences that specifically address an individual’s needs. Whether one is looking for therapeutic yoga to aid with a health condition, like pain, stress and anxiety or a specific style or intensity of practice, private yoga classes can cater to your body as it is right now.

Pace Setting:

In group classes, some people may feel the yoga practice is too rushed or may find it hard to keep up. Conversely, they might find the group yoga class pace too slow. Personal yoga sessions can be adjusted to an individual’s pace or yoga style preference, allowing for a more comfortable and efficient practice.

Deeper Understanding:

With one-on-one attention in a private class, there’s an opportunity to delve deep into yoga poses, understanding alignment, modifications, and the philosophy behind them.

Flexibility with Timing:

Group yoga classes run on set schedule, but private classes can generally be arranged at times that suit the individual, making it easier for those with unpredictable or busy schedules.

Safe Space:

Some individuals may feel self-conscious practicing yoga in large groups, especially beginners. Private sessions offer a confidential and non-judgmental environment to practice yoga and ask questions. A safer space may ease anxiety and therefore offer greater benefits of yoga.

Therapeutic Focus:

Those recovering from injuries or dealing with specific health issues may find benefits from private sessions. The yoga teacher can focus on therapeutic poses and practices to aid recovery or manage conditions.

Advanced Practice:

On the other end of the spectrum, advanced practitioners may seek private lessons to refine their practice, work on advanced yoga postures, or deepen their meditation and pranayama practices.

Feedback:

Continuous feedback in real-time can be very beneficial. In group settings, an instructor might not always address minor misalignments, but in private sessions, there can be a personal dialogue and adjustment.

Build Confidence:

For beginners, a series of private yoga sessions can be a foundation-building experience. Beginner yoga can offer the basics of yoga poses, breath practices and meditation thoroughly before stepping into a group class, making them feel more at ease and confident.

Holistic Approach:

Some private yoga instructors incorporate more than just asanas (poses) into the session. This could include discussions on lifestyle, body and mind habits, meditation, and other holistic health approaches.

Better Accountability:

Having scheduled private sessions can help individuals stick to their yoga practice, knowing that they’ve committed time and resources to it.

Build a Home Practice:

For those looking to cultivate a regular practice at home, private instructors can provide guidance on sequences, duration, and techniques tailored to the individual. To explore the therapeutic benefits of taking your personalised yoga into your everyday life book in for Yoga Therapy.

To summarise, while group yoga sessions offer community vibes, energy, and camaraderie, private sessions provide a dedicated and personalised approach, making them suitable for those with specific needs, goals, or preferences.
